Street food, Xi'an, China

Fujifilm XT-1, 56mm lens, 1/250 @ f4, ISO 800

Today’s photo was taken in the Muslim Quarter in Xi’an. The streets are lined with food stalls. This one was selling fish – perhaps you could call it fish on a stick?

A friend who has lived in China for a few years told me that street food is safe to eat. It’s hot, fresh and cooked in front of you so you can see whether the setup is clean.

I have my doubts. Especially as I noticed people collecting the discarded sticks that food like these fish are impaled on. It wouldn’t surprised me if they are reused.

We are leaving China tomorrow. This morning, having imported all the photos that I have taken here into Lightroom, I had a look to see which lens I used the most. The answer – my Fujinon 35mm f1.4 lens. Nearly three-quarters of the photos that I took during the trip were taken with this lens. I will write more about this in a few days time.
